Life on Mars?
Apr. 17th, 2010 10:40 pmAs I write there is a lot of music playing. I’ve noticed my own preferences lately. While writing the Torrent series, I find myself listening to a lot of Jørn Lande, Zeppelin and EdGuy to keep my writing in the grove that it needs to be. When I’m working on others, it varies from Lady Gaga through Brother Firetribe to John Barrowman. Music is a large part of what I do. It helps me concentrate, and it helps me with keeping a mood in some scenes.
I may be the oddball author, but I create playlists depending on what I’m working on. There is one for every novel I’ve written, and each song generally corresponds to a plot point. Of course, there are some in there just because the song fit well with the over all theme. I’ve debated putting them up on something like iTunes but really, I don’t think there would be much demand.
In other tangentially related news, I’m glad I’m not going to the UK right now. I’d be pretty much where I am right now. Of course, I got told today that the trip planned is a definite go ahead, so I’ve got to get all that together. [weak YAY] Getting to do some research as well as visit people I consider friends is a good thing.
